Toronto Set to ?Go Further? With BioDiesel

Toronto, ON
May 13, 2004 -? Diesel vehicle owners, and bus and trucking fleets in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) now have a second convenient local source of BioDiesel, a renewable vegetable oil-based fuel that can increase diesel engine life while dramatically reducing emissions. Topia Energy Inc. held the grand opening of Toronto proper's first BioDiesel fueling pump earlier today at 1001 Queen Street East.
Producers of "Go Further," the film chronicling Woody Harrelson's journey down the Californian coast in a BioDiesel-fueled bus, also attended the ceremony. The pump, the first to sell BioDiesel in the City of Toronto, will offer a blend called B20, which is 20% BioDiesel and 80% Petroleum Diesel, and Topia Energy BioDiesel Additive-Diesel Fuel Conditioner will be available for purchase in containers.
When used as an additive, BioDiesel acts as a lubricity agent, prolonging the life of diesel fuel pumps and cleaning the fuel system."We're glad to partner with Toronto's film industry to show how we can all "Go Further" with BioDiesel by opening our second station in the GTA," said Topia Energy President Govindh Jayaraman.

"This pump will provide a clean alternative to typical diesel fuel." Ottawa-based Topia Energy Inc., Canada's largest commercial producer and supplier of BioDiesel, is supplying the fuel.Hundreds of customers have been frequenting Topia's first station in Unionville, ON, since its March 2 opening , prompting the opening of a second station, conveniently located close to downtown and the Don Valley Parkway..Thousands of fleet vehicles have driven millions of kilometers using BioDiesel in Canada. It is a fuel that can be used in place of petroleum diesel in any diesel engine, generator, pump or heater, few or no engine modifications.
Using BioDiesel helps to reduce waste and support Canadian agriculture because BioDiesel is a fully renewable fuel, made from local crop vegetable oils and used cooking greases.
BioDiesel also produces much lower emissions than regular diesel fuels and using it improves local air quality and contributes to the reduction of smog and acid rain by significantly reducing the toxic emissions associated with petroleum diesel fuel.
BioDiesel also contributes to the health of Ontarians.

Replacing Petro diesel with Topia Energy BioDiesel reduces smog and improves local air quality in one quick step.
The main components in smog - ground level ozone and particulate matter - are lowered by 40% to 50% with the use of Topia Energy BioDiesel.BioDiesel can also help Canada meet commitments under the Kyoto protocol.
Use of B20 reduces life-cycle carbon dioxide emissions by up to 17%, while stimulating regional economic development in farming communities.????"This is now our second opening of a station in three months," Goldberg (have to introduce him earlier) added. "Canada produces huge amounts of canola and soybeans, which are the major components of BioDiesel.
We want to support the farm economy, and the environmental benefits are very important to us as well."BioDiesel is helping to extend Canada's petroleum reserves and reduce our dependency on foreign sources.

BioDiesel is the only fuel to be classified as entirely non-toxic; it biodegrades faster than sugar, is ten times less toxic than table salt and produces exhaust that some say smells like popcorn or French fries.BioDiesel can be used in its pure form (B100), or blended with petroleum diesel at any level.
It significantly reduces emissions such as carbon monoxide, unburned hydrocarbons and particulate matter. It is nontoxic, biodegradable and essentially free of sulfur and aromatics. BioDiesel offers similar fuel economy, horsepower and torque to petroleum diesel while providing superior lubricity. "The Certified: BioDiesel Driven program ensures that our fuel is consistently meeting the standards and specifications that automobile manufacturers set down for BioDiesel fuel," explained Jayaraman.

"Quality is important to us and it's important that people realize that third party testing and quality control are critical elements for the future of our fuel. We've adopted the same passion for quality that have helped bring BioDiesel to the mainstream in Europe."
Independent labs test Topia Energy BioDiesel fuel under the Certified: BioDiesel Driven program to meet the most exacting standards in the world. For interviews and media relations contact:Govindh Jayaraman, President / Senior Partnertopia energy inc.Phone: (613) 237-0935For logistics and information surrounding the launch contact:Sam Goldberg,Alternate-NRG Inc.GTA Agent for Topia Energy Inc.Phone: (416) 493-9336Websites: www.AboutBioDiesel.comwww.BioDiesel.orgwww.topiaenergy.com.

Electric Shrink Wrapper - Eliminates Hazard of Open Flame

A new portable electric hot air shrink wrapping tool that uses forced hot air, rather than open flame, to package cartons along with a pallet is being introduced by Malcom Company of Portsmouth, Rhode Island.Malcom's Leister Forte S3 Electric Hot Air Shrink Wrap Tool features an internal heating element and blower and blower that produces 1,200 degrees F hot air to shrink wrap plastic from 2 to 6 mils thick.
Eliminating the hazard of open flames and strapping or banding which can cause personal injury, this portable tool safely creates a smooth, tight shipping package including the pallet.Providing 10,000 Watts of power, Malcom's Leister Forte S3 Electric Hot Air Shrink Wrap Tool operates on 3-phase and can be adapted to turntables and other automated shrink wrap systems.
Built for operator safety, this tool is double insulated and has a shield over the heater.
Unlike gas tools, it prevents the cartons being wrapped from being scorched. For more information...

Understanding Trailer Brake Controllers

An electric trailer brake controller is a device that supplies power from a tow vehicle to a trailer's electric brakes. There are two types of brake controllers on the market today - Time Delay Activated and Inertia Activated. While the controllers operate differently, they are very similar. Both types have the same wiring configuration. Both allow the driver to adjust the amount of braking power and both have a pressure sensitive manual override switch that can be used to apply the trailer brakes independently of the tow vehicle.Time Delay Activated Brake ControlsTime Delay Activated or "solid state" controllers are enabled by the depressing of the brake pedal in the tow vehicle. Once enabled, time delay activated controllers apply a gradual voltage to the trailer's brakes using a Time Delay Circuit. The advantages of a solid state brake control unit are the inexpensive cost, low profile, and they can be mounted at any angle.

The disadvantages mostly pertain to Hazard Flashers...
